OVERVIEW OF: Abia re-run: Ikpeazu restricts movements in Aba North, Aba South LGAs
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has approved the restriction of movements in Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas (LGAs) as from 8:00pm (2000hrs) Friday, 26th March, 2021 to 6:00am (0600hrs) Sunday, 28th March, 2021.
The approval was made known in a release issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu and made available to Our Source on Friday.
According to the release, “Only voters, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials on election duty, workers on essential duties with proper identification documents and security operatives are exempted from the restrictions within the stated period.
“Meanwhile, the usual monthly environmental sanitation exercise will go ahead in the other 15 LGAs on Saturday, March 27. Concerned Local Government Chairmen are expected to lock down their respective LGAs within the period of the cleanup exercise, “it concluded.
In a related development, Ikpeazu has strongly warned miscreants planning to foment trouble in the Saturday’s bye-election in Aba North and Aba South to steer clear of the areas.
Governor Ikpeazu stated that government would use all the powers conferred it to deal decisively with any person or group of persons creating problems during the exercise.
