Magixx

Alexander Adelabu (born 27 September 1999), widely known as Magixx, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. In 2021, he was signed to Mavin Records. He is known for a distinctly hybrid approach fusing trap, dancehall, Afropop and R&B.

In 2019, Magixx initiated his rise to fame when he released ’Problem,’ a blend of Afropop and Afro R&B, showcasing his evolving musical exploration.

The track quickly seized the spotlight within Nigeria’s music elite, drawing admiration from notable figures like Mayorkun, M.I, Zlatan Ibile, and the influential Don Jazzy of Mavin Records. This attention culminated in his eventual signing with Mavin Records.

Adelabu was born and brought up in Lagos State. He obtained a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos. He is known for a distinctly hybrid approach fusing trap, dancehall, Afropop and R&B. Magixx’s musical journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, where his passion for music blossomed at a young age.

Introduced to artists like Fela Kuti and DMX, Magixx started experimenting with music at 12. He honed his skills in the local church choir and drew inspiration from his family’s diverse musical tastes, with his mother serving as a steadfast supporter. Despite initial doubts, Magixx’s talent shone through, earning recognition with a university singing competition win.

This moment marked a shift in his father’s perspective, leading to newfound support for Magixx’s musical aspirations. Encouraged by his family’s backing, Magixx began pursuing music seriously, determined to carve out a career in the industry.
