OVERVIEW OF: Fayose Expresses Worry Over Thugs Attack On #EndSARS Protesters
The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to the recent attacks on #EndSARS protesters by thugs across the country.
In a statement on his Twitter page on Thursday, Fayose expressed worry that none of the armed thugs been arrested.
He warned that the government was giving the impression that they are using the thugs to suppress Nigerians exercising their civic rights.
According to the former Ekiti governor, the government must meet the demands of the youths he described as major victims of police brutality.
Fayose said, “It is getting worrisome that thugs are being used to attack Nigerians who are only exercising their legitimate rights to protest. It is even more worrisome that none of these armed thugs have been arrested.
“Methinks govt should not give impression that it is trying to suppress the legitimate rights of Nigerians to protest with the use of armed thugs.
“It is the constitutional rights of the people to complain and be listened to by the govt because the power of the people is stronger than the people in govt.
“Govt should act reasonably on the grievances of Nigerians, especially the youths who are mostly affected by Police Brutality.”
NaijaKit reports that protesters calling for an end to police brutality have been attacked by thugs and security agents.
Such attacks have occurred on Lagos, Abuja, Plateau, Oyo and other states.
