Kwara Fire Service Recovers One Drowned Person, Three Others Missing

The Kwara State fire service has recovered the corpse of a man in the Ilorin river along Emir’s road in the state capital.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, in Ilorin on Monday, said the corpse was recovered on Monday at about 7.48 a.m.

He said the corpse had been handed over to the police.

Our Source also reports that a suspected thief and two others who chased a suspected thief into the Asa river around the Amilegbe area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital, have been declared missing three days after the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, as the two men pursued the thief, who later threw the stolen phone into the river and jumped into the same river and started swimming.

After a while, they were not traced, hence the state fire service was informed about the incident for rescue.

The spokesman of the state fire service confirmed the development.

He said “We learned the suspect stole the phone from those Igbo traders around Amilegbe area and jumped into the river when we got to the bridge.

“But up till now, after several hours of search, we have not seen any of their traces whether dead or alive,” he added.
