WAFCON 2022: South Africa FA Promises Players $30,000 Each To Dethrone Super Falcons (Updated: 2 weeks ago)

Banyana Banyana of South Africa will receive R400 000 each (around US$30,000) if they win the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, reports Complete sports.com.

South Africa Football Association (SAFA), President Dr Danny Jordaan and CEO Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe made the promise while addressing the players ahead of the team’s departure to Rabat, Morocco on Tuesday morning.

The players and their officials will jet out to Rabat on Tuesday night.

Banyana Banyana are in Group C along with defending champions Nigeria, Burundi and Bostwana.

Desiree Ellis’ side will open their campaign against Nigeria on Monday, July 4.

The South Africans have made it to the final of the competition five times in the past, but have not been able to lay their hands on the coveted trophy.

They lost on penalties to the Super Falcons in the final of the last edition of the competition four years ago in Ghana.
