OVERVIEW OF: ‘We Cannot Imagine The Pain’ - Arsenal Send Message To Nigerian Fans
English FA Cup champions Arsenal has thrown its weight behind the ongoing #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
Nigerian Youths have taken to the streets for the past two weeks to call for an end to police brutality.
This resulted in the shooting of unarmed peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate plaza by operatives of the Nigerian Army.
The Lekki shooting had sparked global outrage with the United States and United Nations urging the Nigerian government to fish out and prosecute the soldiers involved in the shooting.
In a message on their official Twitter handle. Arsenal wrote: “To our Nigerian fans. We see you. We hear you. We feel you.
“We have read our replies. We have seen the footage. We cannot imagine the pain.
“Our thoughts are with everyone in Nigeria.”
Recall that Arsenal outcast and highest earner, Mesut Ozil, had earlier called for an end to police brutality in Nigeria.
The former German international was one of the first international celebrities to back the #EndSARS protests.
Horrible to hear what’s been going on in Nigeria. Let's make this a trending topic everywhere ▶️ #EndSARS - My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected. 🇳🇬💚 #EndPoliceBrutality
